Balthali  Village Trek is a perfect trek for family with children to spend a short holidays in Nepal. Along the trail, we meet local people in their distinctive dresses, laden porters, caravans of sheep and goats. Life in rural Nepal is hard but simple; however one can observe many religious and social events that reflect the rich cultural heritage of the area.

The Balthali village (1,730m) is standing on a plateau, just beyond Panauti above 40 Km away from Kathmandu. The village is situated at the junction of Roshi and Ladku rivers. This exceptional hamlet stands at an outstanding place of isolation and relaxation amidst a typical Nepali countryside with terraced rice fields and ochre thatched farm houses. One can see snowy peaks of Dorjee Lhakpa, Langtang and whole range of mountain in a clear and bright day on the northern horizon. Many of the sacred and ancient temples and monasteries such as Namo Buddha, Indreshwar Mahadev Temple, Brahmayani Temple are located along the trail.

Balthali village trek is possible all year-round, although during the monsoon-June-August, the air will be hazy and you will be less likely to get good Himalayan views. Because this trek does not climb very high in altitude. The highest point is Namo Buddha, at 1750 meters.The trek is an ideal trip to undertake in the winter when the skies will be clear and the lodging cozy.

Day 01: Drive to Panauti- Walk to Balthali Village(1780m, 3 hours, 9 km).
An hour drive to Panauti from Kathmandu and explore around the city, you can see the 800 years Hindu temple of statues of the Bishnu, the Sun God Surya and the Moon God Chandra. Along the river bank is an opportunity to visit the local Ghats, cremation ground. Panauti has been totally restored by donations from France. Either, you can then walk for about an hour up to Balthali and for those who like walking, a three-hour stroll through the paddy fields up to Balthali from Panauti. Overnight at Balthali Village Resort 
Day 02: Balthali to Namubuddha(1900m, 4 hours, 12km)
Today after breakfast, explore a typical Tamang village, Dada Gaun, where a Buddhist Community lives. It is very traditional and secluded from the modern world. Here people and animals live together side by side. We then walk to Pada Gaun (2100m) from where one can have tremendously excellent views of the whole Himalayan range to north horizon and beautiful green forest of Mahabharat and trek to Namobuddha, one of the pilgrimage sites of Buddhists in Nepal. It is believed that the ancient Buddha was born there as a Prince. From here you have wonderful views of Gauri Shankher and many other magnificent Himalayas. Stay overnight in monastery lodge.
Day 03: Namobuddha – Dhulikhel(1440m, 3 to 4 hours walk).
Today, after breakfast, we trek to Dhulukhel. In the beginning we follow the unealled road to Kavre Bhanjyang the hike up to the top of Dhulikhel Mountain view, there we will see a giant statue of Lord Buddha. Explore the surroundings and enjoy view of Dhulikhel town then head down to city and drive to Kathmandu.

We would recommend to pack pretty light and managed to wash most of your clothes each afternoon/night for the first half of the trip. In the latter stages of the trip, it is pretty cold. There is no real need for multiple outfits.This is just a guide and it work quite well. sleeping bag is necessary as there are blankets in each guesthouse.

Travel Insurance 
Travel insurance is compulsory for Brahman Heritage Trail. Though this is an easy trek with low risk of AMS. However, this mountain journey is not a normal visit due to the possibility of unforeseen or unexpected events such as injury, illness, flood, landslide and sudden climate changes. All trekkers must provide a copy of their comprehensive travel insurance policy certificate. The policy must cover medical and emergency repatriation - including helicopter rescue and evacuation expenses at high altitudes. We kindly request you to send your detailed insurance policy copy before trekking departures. In case of emergencies, we will use the documents you sent us for rescue. It will help us arrange a quick and effective rescue operation, transfer for emergency medical help, etc. Please make sure with the insurance company that they cover helicopter evacuation at high altitude trek along with medical costs. 

Passport and Visa
All foreigners except Indian nationals need a visa to enter Nepal. You can get an on-arrival visa at Tribhuvan International Airport or Nepal border regional offices. For a visa application, you need a passport valid for at least six months, a passport size photo, and visa application fees.The current visa cost for 30 days is US$50 which you have to pay in USD cash. Children under the age of 10 will get a free visa. Chinese citizens and citizens of SAARC countries: Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka get a free visa.The citizen of Nigeria, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Cameroon, Somalia, Liberia, Ethiopia, Iraq, Palestine, and Afghanistan will not get visa on arrival in Nepal.

Tipping in Nepal
Nepali culture accepts tipping and views it as proof of good service. However, tipping is at the traveler’s discretion and should reflect the quality of service provided.We advise you to tip at the end of the trek.

Money Matter
Nepali Rupees (NPR/Rs) is the local currency and 1 USD =Rs 120 NPR.You can exchange most foreign currencies in banks and other financial institutions or money exchanges in Kathmandu or Pokhara. Money exchanges display exchange rates visibly for the public.

Please note that only Indian Rupee Notes (INR) of 100 and 2000 denominations are legal in Nepal. We recommend you to bring cash and exchange them for Nepali Rupees at money exchanges instead of traveler's Cheque are not accepted now in Nepal.You can also withdraw cash in Nepalese Rupees using your credit/debit card from ATMs in Kathmandu or Pokhara. You can withdraw up to Rs. 35,000 for a fee of Rs 500. Most banks in Asia do not accept old, torn and faded foreign currency notes so bring clean new notes.

Expenses of Personal Nature
Our package does not include meals and accommodation costs in Kathmandu and Pokhara. Moreover, all our valuable clients need to bring personal spending money to cover visa fee, travel insurance policy purchase, beverages, snacks for the trek, hot (tea/coffee) and cold drinks, tips to guide and porter, souvenirs and so on. We recommend you to bring cash in major currencies which you can easily exchange for rupees in Nepal. Poon Hill Trek accept only Nepalese currency.

Water and Electricity
Electricity is available for camera and mobile battery recharge at an extra cost. You can buy either packed mineral water from local lodges and en route shop or fill your water bottle with boiled water at an extra cost. If you require, we can provide you with water purification pills. You shouldn't drink water from rivers, taps and wells in trek as the water might not be drinkable.

Solo Travelers-Single travellers should not have to pay more to travel so our group trips are designed for shared accommodation and do not involve a single supplement. Single travellers joining group trips are paired in twin or multi-share accommodation with someone of the same sex for the duration of the trip. Some of our Independent trips are designed differently and single travellers on these itineraries must pay the single trip price.

Minimum Age-You must be 18 to travel unaccompanied on a our tour. For minors travelling with a guardian over 21 years old, the minimum age is 12.
