Mohare Danda Trek Difficulty
Mohare Danda is a medium difficulty trek full of nature, culture and the mountain landscapes. You need to walk uphill and downhill for 5 to 6 hours in a day, approximately 10 km to 15 km. Mohare Danda is the highest point of the trek that offers stunning close up view of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountains.
Location of Mohare Danda Trek
Mohare Danda is just to south-west of Ghorepani Poon Hill. The trek also calls the Annapurna Dhaulagiri community eco lodge trek is a non touristic quiet trekking trail. You will walk mostly on alpine forest and meadows.

The rural culture and nature are the attractions of the trek. It is also a good trek to experience rural and traditional Nepalese cultural. Hence, the Mohare Danda Trek offers direct benefits to the local people. Mohare Danda Trip-Preparations
A good fitness level is required to trek around Mohare Danda. The trail forms of easy, moderate and hard grade. The previous hiking experience is helpful. There are lots steep uphill and downhill stairs with some flat sections on the trail.
You don’t need to be an athlete. People of all age’s group can participate a new Mohare Danda Trek in Nepal. The key point is to remember, hike on your own pace. During the trek, you will reach to an altitude 3300 m from 700m
Mohare Danda Trek Permit/Documents
Like other treks in Nepal, the two permits are necessary to trek Mohare danda. These are TIMS card, the Trekkers information management card and the Annapurna Conservation Area (ACAP) entry permit. The total permit cost is around USD 50 per head. We will issue your trek permit once you book trekking with us. The scanned passport copy and two passport size photo are required for permit. TIMS card and ACAP trekking permit valid only for one entry.
Mohare Danda Trek Accommodation
There are a quite good community lodges available along the trail. The room is basic but neat and clean with sharing bathroom and toilet. Please don’t expect luxury accommodation to stay in this trek since it is newly discover trek route in Annapurna. You are trekking in remote rural villages in the corner of Annapurna region.
Type of Rooms
The room is simple with two single beds. They are providing pillow, mattress and blanket in the room. We recommend to you to take your own sleeping bags. Overall, you will get a nice experience staying with local people in their home. You are also support them in a meaningful way while on trekking Mohare danda.
Toilets in the Homestay (Teahouse)
Toilet is outside the room. There could be a western style toilet or a squat. It is more basic at high altitude places. Please carry your own toilet paper because soap isn’t always provided. Also, make sure you have hand sanitizer too. The used toilet paper goes in a bin next to the toilet. You flush the squat toilet by scooping water out of the nearby bucket with small jug
The Teahouse Dining Room
There is a dining room in every teahouse where meals are served. It is a good place to know your fellow trekkers. There will be a fire in the dining room around dinner time the higher you go but no guaranteed.
Hot Shower Available in the Teahouses
Most of the teahouse offers hot shower facility. Hot shower may not be available in the higher places. Hence, we highly suggest you packing wipe paper. Being dirty and sweaty is a part of trekking. For hot shower you may need to pay an extra cost. In case, if there is no hot shower, you can clean yourself with wet wipe paper.
Food of Mohare Danda Trek
Food of Mohare Danda Trek basically consists of Dal Bhat, pasta, lentils, potatoes, rice, dumplings, Chowmin, Rosati, Soups, Tea, coffee, coke, beer and bottle water. Dinner and breakfast you have to eat at the tea houses where you stay. Lunch will serve somewhere along the trail. Think carefully before ordering meat items meals and eating veggie meals is the safest option.
What is Dal Bhat?
Dal Bhat is a staple meal of Nepali. It forms of Dal (lentils), veg curry, pickle, rice and salad. Dal bhat is a healthy and hygienic food, easy to digest in the mountains. It is less oily than the other items. So, call it a Dal Bhat Power 24 hours. Also consume less fuel to prepare Dal Bhat, commonly available everywhere in the trail. It also helps to protect our environment by consuming less energy fuel.
What is available in Breakfast
The breakfast forms of porridge, pancakes, omelet, boiled eggs, pancake and breads like Tibetan bread, buckwheat bread and chapattis and so on with tea or coffee. You can choose any of these above items in the breakfast. Please order the meals item what you eat. We mean that do not order over items that you are eating. Save the food to others too, people are starving with meals.
Lunch and Dinner
The lunch and dinner menus form of soups, pasta dishes, fried rice of different kinds and momo of many kinds, pizzas and Dal Bhat. The meal of meat item is something to be wary of. Lots of dishes of egg and tuna from a can, so these meals are not so fresh, healthy and hygienic. Hence, meals with meat items are not really recommended in the mountains.
Drinks
Hot drinks in the menu forms of regular black tea, coffee , masala tea, lemon ginger honey tea and hot chocolate, bottle of water, beer, whisky for an extra additional cost. No drinks are included in our package cost.
Trekking Package Cost
The package cost to Mohare Danda Trek ranges from USD 550 to USD 850. All ground transfer, accommodation, meals, guide and permits are inclusive in the price. If you want to have snacks and drink such as a bowl of soup or tea or coffee, you have to pay yourselves.
Booking Trip at the last minute
If you are unable to book a trip in advance, We do accept a last-minute trek booking. To take advantage of this facility, you need to pay 100% of the trip payment before the trip departures. We do our best to operate a trek at any time, but in case of last-minute booking, we are not responsible for delay due to circumstance that beyond our control such as bad weather and landslide.
Tipping
On restaurants and cafes, it is nice to tip 10% of the bill. Tipping to driver, porter and guide is also normal. Tips for guide and porter, it depends on your satisfaction. We kindly advise to tip guide and porter, the 10 to 20 percent of the total trip cost you pay.
Carry Cash in Nepali rupees
We suggest to carry with you USD 150 to USD 200 equivalent Nepali rupees cash with you. The will be good enough to pay hot showers, charging batteries and drinks. It will not cover tipping your guide and porter.
Money Exchange
ATM machines in Kathmandu and Pokhara provide Nepali currency. The ATMs accept Visa and Mastercard. Money changer will change US dollars, Pounds, Australian Dollars, Singaporean Dollars, Malaysian Ringgit, and Euros into Nepali rupees. They do not accept cards.
Important Notes
- No extra charge for a solo traveler.
- It is highly unusual to get a single room on the trek. Expect to share with someone of the same sex.
- Meals on the trek are included in the price, but does not include hot or cold drinks, alcohol, snacks, or extra food.
- Drones are not permitted unless you have a special permit to fly them. It is tricky to obtain permission, so leave it at home unless you need a drone.
- Please arrange trekking insurance before leaving your home country. We do not provide insurance for our clients.
