The trek is possible throughout the year. The Autumn from September to December and Spring from March to June are the best seasons. Some people prefer to do the trek in the winter as you can walk in the snow and also experience snowfall. If you want to see greenery and wild flowers, summer(rainy season) is also a good time for trekking Mardi Himal.

The monsoon season trekking between May and September are not recommended due to the high risk of landslides and floods. The winter months of December, January, and February are the driest and the coldest months of the year.

Yes, guide is compulsory for all trekkers for trekking to Mardi Himal base camp and Poon Hill via Khopra. We(our trekking company) provide a good reliable guide. We are the government register trekking company in Kathmandu. The average price of a guide is US$ 30 per day and for a porter price-US$25 per day. It is possible to share a guide/porter between a couple of trekkers(hikers).

The restaurant, offering local Nepali dal bhat, spaghetti, bread, omelet, Tibetan bread, porridge, fried noodles, and fried rice. Tea and coffee are available in the menus.

Water on the tour

It is nice to use LifeStraw bottles and used tap water for drinking. You can find water taps along the route. The sort of water purification system will save you a lot of money on the trek. Plus, it’s good for the environment. One liter of drinking water costs around NPR 150 to 300 depending on the place. You’ll need at least two liter of water per person a day.

Transport

It is also possible both tourist and local bus transfer from Kathmandu to Pokhara and by taxi or car or sharing jeep transfer to/from trekking beginning and ending point to Pokhara. It’s better to bring enough cash to buy snacks, cool drinks, chocolates, and souvenirs on the route. There are not ATMs on the trek but ATMs are available in Kathmandu, Pokhara and Chitwan. I’d suggest having NPR 3000/US$25 per person per day on the trek.
