Detail Itinerary of Mohare Khopra Mardi Himal Trek

01

Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu

Upon arrival in Kathmandu airport, receive you there and drive to hotel. Free day on your preparing for trekking and meeting with guide. Stay night at hotel in Kathmandu.

02

Day 02: Kathmandu to Pokhara(200km, 6 hours drive)

Breakfast and get tourist bus drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara that takes for 6 hours scenic drive. Stay night at standard twin sharing hotel accommodation in Pokhara.

03

Day 03: Pokhara - Galeshwor ( 5 hours drive) - Banskharka( 3 hours trek)

Climb up 3 hours almost only on stairs. You’ll make your way past a couple small villages until you reach Baskharka Community Lodge. Breakfast and start drive early in the morning from Pokhara for 5 hours passing through corn fields and hydro-electric dams until the village of Galeshwor. We geared up there and start the trek through little farming communities who were growing oranges, lemons, corn, and plums. We stop to catch our breathe many times during the nearly all vertical climb, and one time we look up and the clouds parted enough for us to see Dhaulagiri, the 7th highest peak in the world. After three hours of sweat and wobbly legs, we reach to Banskharka Community dining hall, where we would have dinner that night. If you are lucky to watch the sunset over the vast valley below the dining hall.

04

Day 04: Banskharka - Nangi Community Lodge(5 to 6 hours trek)

The morning is another 3 hour climb up steps and passing through villages. But after lunch, the trail levels out a bit so you can enjoy the views more. Breakfast and the next 3 hours is pretty tough trekking similar to the day before up the mountain past rice and corn fields. After lunch, the hike is much easier as the trail leveled off and we walk across a few race fields and through local communities. Walk around Nangi village and enjoy the view of Annapurna South and Dhaulagiri with sunset.

05

Day 05: Nangi - Mohare Danda(5 to 6 hours)

Even though we gain 1,000 meters this day, it didn’t feel like it. The trail is mostly uphill, with intervals of flat trail in between the climbs. We pass through an evergreen forest and past the tree line with epic views of the valleys below. Also, we have to carry all the water we’d be needing with us, as there are no villages on this section of the trek. After breakfast, continue trek uphill until the lunch spot around 12 pm, which is a hut in the middle of the path. After lunch, continue trek again another 2 hours on a Nepalese flat trail up and down, up and down, until to the top at Mohare Danda Lodge( 3,300m), this is the highest point of the trek. On a clear day you can see the peaks of Dhaulagiri (8,172m), Nilgiri (7,061m), Annapurna 1 (8,091m), Annapurna South (7,219m), and Fish Tail Mountain (6,997m) which is sacred and no one permit to the summit.
Mohare Danda is the highest wireless internet relay station in Nepal, which allows the schools and hospitals in remote villages to connect to Kathmandu providing better healthcare to the region.

06

Day 06: Mohare Danda -Swantha(2200m, 9 kms, 5-6 hrs walk)

After enjoying the magnificent mountain views, we start our journey slowly by walking downhill through a trail surrounded by rhododendron, pine, oak and Juniper trees. We will hear and see various species of birds on our way to the very famous view point of Poonhill. We will then continue down to Ghorepani for about two hours and have lunch. After lunch we continue walking down through the forest to the Chitre village for about one and half hour. From Chitre village, we take a new path to Swanta village (2260m), which is the gateway to the Khopra trek.

07

Day 07: Trek to Chistibung((2975m, 7 kms, 3-4 hrs walk)

Immediately after leaving Swanta we enter the forest and walk through a very cool and pleasant path, hearing the sound of the river and the birds singing. After two hours, we cross a stream and we have a lunch at the Kharka before we start to climb the steep Khopra Hill for another one and a half to two hours, reaching Chhistibang at 3020m. We halt there for the night, among the rhododendron and oak trees.

08

Day 08: Trek to Kopra ridge(3660m, 4 kms, 3 hrs walk)

We continue climbing uphill to Khopra (3660m) and spend the night there. Khopra provides internet and telephone facilities.

09

Day 09: Khopra to Khayer Lake-Khopra Ridge

Breakfast and exploration hiking to Khayer lake for 6 to 7 hour and back to Khopra ridge for stay night at tea house lodge.

10

Day 10: Khopra Danda to Dobato(3420m, 6 kms,5-6 hrs walk)

There are two possible ways for Dobato high route. In spring or during the dry season, we take the high route straight above Khopra, enjoying the views of the fully bloomed rhododendron forest and admiring the landscapes of the Kali Gandaki valley and the spectacular mountains. The path is very narrow and can be slippery at some parts. A good balance and no fear of heights is a priority. With rain or snow it is absolute dangerous to walk this way. Walking crampons are recommended in case of quick weather change. In winter or during the snow season, we take the lower route to avoid icy paths. The lower path is a little longer, and goes uphill and downhill through the forest but is much safer.

11

Day 11: Dobato to Ghandruk via Tadapani(2610m, 12 kms, 6-7 hrs walk)

From the lodge in Dobato we first follow the forest trail to Isaru where there are two lodges after one hour and another after one and a half hour of walking. After two hours we reach a junction and from there we continue to Tadapani, a touristy junction facing Mt. Annapurna South, Himchuli, Machhapuchre (Fishtail). From here, we take an easy and a pleasant trail toward Ghandruk through a trunk of rhododendrons. We will be welcomed by the grey monkeys (Langur) and will have sufficient time to interact with them.

12

Day 12: Ghandruk to Landruk/Deurali(2100m, 15km, 6 hours)

Breakfast and trek downhill to Kimche and trek again uphill to Landruk. It is also possible further trek to Pitam Deuarli too. Stay night at guest house.

13

Day 13: Pitam Deurali to Low Camp(2990m, 12 km, 6 to 7 hours)

Trip Information - Mohare Khopra Mardi Himal Trek

Mohare Danda Trek Package

We cater budget, standard and full fledged package to Mohare Danda Trek. The package price ranges from USD 350 to USD 950.

Mohare Danda Trip: Difficulty

Mohare Danda Trek is an easy to moderate grade trek. There are lots of stairs of uphill and downhill. One of the nice things about this trek is you won’t have to worry too much about altitude. The highest point of the trek at 3,300 meters, the Mohare danda. At that level, you may experience some shortness of breath and a dull headache. It is nothing compared to what you can experience on the higher treks in Nepal.

Mohare Khopra Danda Mardi Himal Trek: Accomodation

During the trek, please don’t expect luxury accommodation. You’ll be staying in remote rural villages at simple tea house and homestay. The teahouses are humble and cozy. The rooms are simple — usually just 2 single beds. There might be a small table and some hooks on the wall from which you can hang your clothes. You may have an opportunity to spend the night in a home stay. Group have to stay in a separate home, spread throughout the village.

Toilets-

Toilets are all shared and outside the room. So yeah, if you wake up in the middle of the night, you’ll want to grab your headlamp because you’ll have to walk a ways to get there. Toilets on the trek will be rustic. And showers will be very basic. These differ from tea house to tea house. Others had Western-style toilets that you needed to fill with a bucket of water to flush. If you need to use the toilet during the trek. You go in the woods. Most of the time, you’re trekking through forests, so you’ll just need to find a secluded spot where nobody can see you.

Showers-

Some tea houses have showers, others don’t. We’d highly suggest packing wipes and not being too concerned with showering on your trek, because, well, you’re not always going to have the option.

Food on the Mohare Danda Trek

Lunch and Dinner-

Meals on the trek will basically consist of rice, pasta, lentils, potatoes, rice, dumplings and more rice. Most food options on the trail are already veggie. It’s actually difficult to find anything that has meat in it. And if you’re vegan, you’ll be happy to know that there are lots of options for you too. When anything on the menu says it comes with vegetables, expect a small bit of shredded carrot, cabbage, and onion — not much more than that.

Breakfast-

Set breakfast basically consist of fried eggs, spiced potatoes with onions and peppers and chapati. Masala Omelet is basically just an omelet with some small pieces of vegetables and some seasoning. Pancakes-It is a bit different than what you’re probably used to. Instead of being light and fluffy, they are quite dense and have almost a rubbery texture. Tibetan Bread is doughy and fried, this is almost like an unsweetened doughnut when it’s cooked well. They’re good with peanut butter and jam or honey. Masala Milk Tea or Milk Coffee are usually the options for drinks with breakfast. You can also ask for tea or coffee without milk.

Mohare Danda Trek: Seasons

The best times of the year for trekking in Mohare Danda are in the spring and the fall. These times of year have comfortable temperatures, clear skies, and less chance of rain. If you hike during the winter months, be prepared with warmer layers. And if you hike during the summer (monsoon) months, be sure you have waterproof layers.
During monsoon season (the months of June and July) leeches can be found on many trails.
