Nepal Kathmandu Trek Difficulty
This is a low altitude trek with moderate difficulty level, and you need to walk 5 to 6 hours each day. The trekkers with all skill levels like beginners to family with kids and senior citizens can do this trek as it is a short duration trek. However, the uphill 900 m climb from Sundarijal to Chisapani is quite challenging for hikers.
Seasons for Kathmandu Nepal Trek
It is possible to do Kathmandu valley trek all around the year. Autumn-September to December and Spring-March to June is the best time trek around Kathmandu valley. Winter like Jan and February is also a good time for this trek. The rainy season like July and August is not really recommended Kathmandu valley rim trek. The leeches and everyday rainfalls may disturb you on the trek.
Food on Kathmandu Trek
During the trek, you will get basic tea houses and budget hotel accommodation on the trail. Like in Nagarkot and Dhulikhel, you may get standard and deluxe hotel accommodation, but the cost it comes additional on top of budget hotel. We will book upgraded hotel accommodation in Nagarkot and Dhulikhel as per your kind request.

Furthermore, food facilities along the trek are quite basic as well. You will get Nepali meals-Dal Bhat consists of rice, dal (pulses), lentils, spinach, vegetables, pickles, meat, and others. You can also get various international cuisine like momo, chowmin, pizza, pasta, burger and others in the hotels around Kathmandu Valley trek.
Necessary Permit for Kathmandu Trekking Nepal
The Kathmandu Valley Trek is goes through Shivapuri National Park. So, we have to pay USD 10 for Kathmandu Trek Permit. The TIMS card (Trekking Information Management System) does not require trek around Kathmandu valley.

Entry requirements-Passport and Visa
You’ll need a valid passport, a minimum of 6 months validity, so remember to check the expiry date.
Please, carry a copy of the photo page of your passport while travelling and leaving a copy at home with family or friends.
All foreign nationals (except Indian passport holders) require a visa to enter Nepal. Visas are obtainable from embassies abroad, land borders (including India and Tibet), and on arrival at Kathmandu-TIA airport.
Getting a visa at the airport or land borders can sometimes take time due to long queues. There have been instances when travelers are asked to show proof of exit from the country, ie flight tickets. You may also need to provide two passport photos and the following fees in US dollars (subject to change, cash only). Your visa application form may require you to state the dates on which you enter and exit the country.

Passport and visa
Your passport should be a minimum of 6 months validity and you will get Nepal visa on arrival at Kathmandu-TIA airport. Multiple entry visa valid for 15 days costs US$ 30, 30 days costs US$ 50 and 90 days costs US$125.
Tipping
Tipping is customary your guide and driver. Tips are greatly appreciated as a gesture of thanks for their professionalism and leadership during your trip. The amount is entirely a personal preference; however, as a guideline, tip is from $10 USD-$15 USD per person per day are advisable.
Money Matter
USD is also widely accepted in Nepal. ATMs can only be found in Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Bhaktapur. Make sure you carry sufficient cash in Nepal rupees to cover your needs when travelling outside Kathmandu. Credit cards are not widely accepted. The old, torn, and fade notes is very difficult to exchange at banks and money exchange. Please ensure that you have new and clean notes.
Travel Insurance
Travel insurance is compulsory so that it covers personal liability, cancellation, loss of luggage and personal effects.
Solo Travelers
Solo travelers should not have to pay more to travel joining in group trips. The single travelers joining in trips are provided in twin or multi-share accommodation with someone of same sex.
