Detail Itinerary of Annapurna Base Camp Mardi Himal Trek 18 days

Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu

Receive you at Kathmandu airport on arrival and drive to hotel. Free day in the afternoon and trek briefing in the afternoon.

Day 02: In Kathmandu

Spend free day in Kathmandu, prepare for trekking. It is also possible to walk around Kathmandu local market and Thamel market.

Day 03: Kathmandu to Birethanti (1,015 m, 8 hours)

Wake up in the morning, breakfast and drive and fly to Pokhara. Then continue drive to Nayapul and then a short trek to Birethanti. Stay night there.

Day 04: Birethanti to Ghandruk (1,950m, 6 hours).

Breakfast and trek uphill to Ghandruk, the largest Gurung settlement in Annapurna region and also home to the brave Gurkha. Once reach there and enjoy the pretty close view of Machhapuchhare and Annapurna South. Stay night there.

Day 05: Ghandruk to Chhomrong village (2140m, 6 hours)

Today, you will trek from Ghandruk village to Chomrong village. The trail from Ghandruk to Komrong Danda is slowly up. From Komrong Danda, you will trek downhill to Komrong Khola. Again climb up to Chhomrong, Chhomrong is another nice and big village. If the weather is nice, you will have nice Mountain View, overnight at Lodge.

Day 06: Chhomrong to Bamboo (2400m, 6 hours)

Breakfast and trek to Bamboo on downhill and uphill trail via scatter villages and forest. Walk for 5 to 6 hours covering a distance of 12 km to 15 km. Stay night there.

Day 07: Bamboo to Deurali (2920 m, 9 km).

A short day but steep uphill trek to Deurali for 6 hours.

Day 08: Deurali to MBC to ABC (Annapurna Base camp(4130m, 8 km)

Breakfast and trek for 5 to 6 hours to Annapurna base camp via Machhapuchhare base camp is an amazing point of the trek.

Day 09: Annapurna Base camp – Bamboo (2335m, 17 km).

Wake up early in the morning; enjoy a great view of Annapurna with Sunrise. Breakfast and return downhill trek to Bamboo for 6 to 7 hour with a distance of 15 km to 18 km.

Day 10: Bamboo to Jhinu Hot Spring (1710m, 12 km).

Breakfast and return trek to Jhinu Danda Hot Spring via Chhomrong village. Stay night Jhinu hot spring after diving and relaxation in the hot water.

Day 11: Jhinu Danda to Landruk village and ascend to forest camp (2,500m, 7 hours)

Breakfast and trek to forest camp via Landruk, the second largest village on the way to ABC. It is a long day trek after lunch in Landrung village, you will steep uphill hike to forest camp via dense jungles.

Day 12: Forest Camp to Low Camp (3,035m, 6 hrs walk)

Breakfast and trek to Low Camp for 5 to 6 hours covering a distance of 12 km. Stay night there.

Day 13: Low Camp to High Camp (3,590m, 4 hrs walk)

Breakfast and continue trek to high camp from low camp. The best view point-Badal Danda lies between low and high Mardi Himal Trek. It offers a great view of ABC, Fishtail and Pokhara valley with Phewa Lake. Stay night there.

Day 14: High Camp to Mardi Himal Base Camp (4500m)-High Camp (3,590m, 5 hours)

Wake up early in the morning before the sun rises. Get sunrise over the Annapurna. We have time to rest before we start hiking up to the upper viewpoint for magnificent views of close Himalayan peaks. The trail heading to Upper View Point is well marked through the grassland involves few steep sections.

In overall, this is a moderate grade walk, not too easy and not too challenging as well. In summer season this area is full of yaks and sheep along with several yak herders’ huts. There are some narrow and steep trails that extensive care is required. Stay overnight in Lodge.

Day 15: High Camp to Siding Village (1,280m, 7 hours)

We descend to the low camp from the same trail we went up. We then leave the previous trail and trek via forest heading towards Madi Khola. Descending further we will reach the Siding Village where we camp for the night. Stay overnight in Lodge.

Day 16: Trek to Lumre village (2 hours). Drive to Pokhara.

Trek to Lumre village (2 hours). Drive to Pokhara.
Early morning after breakfast, walk towards the Lumre village. Lunch there and drive to Pokhara and explore some of the most beautiful landmarks of Pokhara with doing some shopping.

Visit Fewa Lake, Devi’s Fall, Tibetan refugee settlement and Gupteshwor Cave. Besides that, the rest of the time, you can either visit Fewa lake for boating on Tal Barahi temple or rest at hotel.

Day 17: Pokhara to Kathmandu (200 km 6 hours)

At morning we’ll drive back through the scenic countryside and during the route will stop for breakfast and lunch. It takes 7 hours back to Kathmandu.

Day 18: Kathmandu Airport

Breakfast and spend free day on your own doing last minute shopping until airport time. We drive you to TIA airport three hour before the schedule flight time for a wonderful flight back to home.

For your comfort and safety, equipments play a vital role. The unnecessary equipment in the trek, it is possible to store in Kathmandu at our office.

In General, We provide sleeping bag, down Jacket and duffle bag if you need it, but return after the trek. A wind and waterproof thin layered jacket must bring for morning and evening above 3,000m.  Below is the list of items.

ABC Mardi Himal Trek: Accommodations

You will find neat and clean basic teahouse accommodation on the trail. The teahouse rooms have twin beds and 3 to 4 beds with sharing toilets and bathroom.

Annapurna Base Camp and Mardi Himal Trek: Meals

You will get Nepali, Tibetan, Chinese, Indian and continental meals on the trek. The veg and non-veg meals are available. The most common meals are porridge, pancake, chapati, omelet, boiled egg, and muesli for breakfast and fried rice, noodles, dalbhat, curry, soups for lunch and dinner.

Alert with Non-Veg Meals

The tea house menu offers plenty of non-veg meals contain meat is not recommended. The meats in the mountain is not sanitized and healthy. However, we would like to request you to avoid meat contains meat is not fresh and stale, alcoholic drinks and smoking.

Annapurna Base Camp Mardi Himal Trek: Difficulty

Mardi Himal and Annapurna base camp is a challenging difficulty trek. You will hike mostly on uphill and downhill trail. You will walk through villages and forest covering a distance of 12km to 15km for 5 to 7 hours a day.

Preparation for the trek

Please, prepare yourselves physically and mentally for this trek. A regular exercise like jogging, gym, hiking is a good idea to prepare the trek. No previous hiking experience is required but helpful if have. Also, no age limit for this trek. The hikers like children with family to senior and beginners.

The 8 weeks trek preparation before the trip would be helpful. The brisk walks and brisk jogs improve your cardio. Please target 10 km jogging under 60 minutes comfortably by beginning of the trek.

Annapurna Base Camp Mardi Himal Trek: Season

Autumn and Spring are the best time trekking Annapurna Base Camp and Mardi Himal due to weather, temperature and the point of view. Trekking in winter is also a good time to avoid crowds of trekkers but it is colder. Trekking in rainy season does not offer a clear view of the mountains; also the leeches and everyday rainfalls may disturb you while trekking Annapurna base camp and Mardi Himal.

ABC Mardi Himal Trek: Weather and Temperatures

The two distinct seasons are best for Annapurna Base Camp and Mardi Himal Trek. In spring, there may be patches of snow at higher altitudes. The temperature in the day is warmer than the night, evening and morning. There will be no snow in autumn trek. Spring is moist; autumn is dry and crisp air.
In autumn, the temperature will be between 15 °C and 28 °C in the day and at night time, it drops down between 5 °C and -5 °C.

Likewise, in the spring, the temperature will be between 20 °C and 24 °C in the day and it will drop down to-10 °C and 5 °C in night, evening and morning.

Documents for ABC Mardi Himal Trek

Two permits-Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) entry permit and Trekkers’ Information Management System (TIMS) entry permit are required. It costs USD 50 for both of the permits. The scan passport copy and passport size photograph requires issuing the permit.
